Fresh water scheme for coastal communities
Coastal communities needing fresh water fast should consider our turnkey bulk water desalination service provided in conjunction with our technical partner, Woodside Engineering Ltd. This desalination process is not dependent on the incineration of scrap tyres. The source energy is obtained from gas, electricity, fuel oil etc whichever is the preference of the host country.
It's easy!
You supply the demand and agree to purchase a minimum quantity of water at an agreed price for a fixed period; we supply and operate the desalination plant and feed the water into your distribution system.
The advantages to you
- No capital funding to be found; we own the equipment although you have a right to buy it from us at the end of the contract
- We handle the financing, building and commissioning of the equipment and employ the staff to look after and run it
- You start getting water 6-8 months from signing the contract
- You only pay for the water that you take (subject to a contractual minimum quantity)
How big are we talking?
We have a range of designs offering:
- 175 - 250 tonnes (m3) per day
- 350 - 500 tonnes (m3) per day
- 700 - 1000 tonnes (m3) per day
- 3500 - 5000 tonnes (m3) per day
How much does the fresh water cost?
The price is dependent on the volume of water required, the location (physical and fiscal), the contract duration, the cost of financing the project and, in particular, the running costs.
In general terms, the larger the plant, the cheaper the water.
As an example, the cost of water from a 700 tonne (m3) per day unit in a typical coastal location operating under a 10 - 15 year contract would be no more than US$ 3 per tonne (m3) and possibly as low as US$ 2.25.
NOTE: Economies of scale mean that larger units yield cheaper water; water from a typical 3500 tonne (m3) per day unit brings the cost of water below US$ 2 per tonne (m3).
